Hot Trailer: ‘Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter’

Wow, very cool trailer, one of the best I’ve seen in months (especially with Johnny Cash flourish).

Produced by Tim Burton and Jim Lemley, directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the Twentieth Century Fox horror-history mashup will usher in a summer of vampires, zombies, and aliens
.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opens June 22nd and is an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel: he’s also the credited screenwriter with Simon Kinberg. The pic stars Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell, and Dominic Cooper in fiction about President Lincoln’s mother killed by a supernatural creature who fuels Abe’s passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers:

Honest Abe’s vampiric mentor (Dominic Cooper) prepares his protege to battle the forces of evil in the international trailer for ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’.

20th Century Fox released the official Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter trailer, at long last confirming to many doubters that the Tim Burton-produced mix of historical fact, historical fantasy, and stylized supernatural horror-action is indeed a real film… and not just an elaborate public ruse or a faux production like those marketed during the beginning of Tropic Thunder.

An international teaser trailer for the Abraham Lincoln not-a-real-biopic has since emerged online, featuring a fair amount of new footage – including, excerpts from a motivational monologue delivered by the vampire Henry Sturgess (Captain America‘s Dominic Cooper), who becomes a mentor to young Honest Abe and trains him in the art of how to slaughter creatures of the night.

The filmmakers behind the upcoming historical fantasy ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ indicate that room has been left for a sequel. Perhaps it will simply be: ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire’?

Over the weekend, Screen Rant participated in a special (and surreal) event for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in honest Abe’s hometown of Springfield, IL. While there, we visited the 16th president’s tomb, climbed into the ordinarily restricted (and highly creepy) areas just above the grave-site’s of Lincoln’s wife Mary and three of their sons, took a midnight tour of the presidential library, were granted a peak into his highly-guarded vault and screened several minutes of footage from the film.

We will have an early look at the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter trailer, a “making of” featurette, video interview with director Timur Bekambetov and star Benjamin Walker, excerpts from our Q&A with Bekmambetov, Seth Grahame-Smith (Writer/Author), Walker and Jim Lemley (Producer) and a more detailed accounting of the event very soon.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ Trailer Hits the Web

A trailer for the new film, “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” offers a glimpse of the 3-D mashup film that retells the life of America’s 16th president as a secret vampire slayer.

Combining a retelling of the Civil War with a horror tale of bloodthirsty vampires, both the screenplay and the original novel were written by Seth Grahame-Smith Lincoln. In the movie, Lincoln (played by Benjamin Walker) wields an axe and slays evil spirits, avenges his mother’s death, emancipates slaves and tries to save his country from the secession of states.

The film, directed by Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Tim Burton, also stars Rufus Sewell, Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper. It’s slated to open in June.
Readers, what do you think of the history-horror mashup?
