A casual mention in an awards acceptance speech was the way Matthew Bomer, star of USA’s “White Collar,” chose to go public with his sexuality Saturday.
The actor, usually coy about his personal life, was accepting a prize for his anti-HIV/AIDS activism at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards in Palm Springs, Calif., when he dropped a reference to his longtime partner, publicist Simon Halls.
“I’d really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry,” he said, adding a mention of the couple’s children. “Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment.”
On “White Collar,” now in its third season, Bomer plays a con artist working with an FBI agent (Tim DeKay).
